Promethean ActiVote

It was really hard to pick a favorite technology that I utilize in the classroom. I utilize so many different technologies on a day-to-day basis. One technology that I really love to use is the Promethean Activotes. Above is a video to give you a better understanding of what they look like and how they are used.  I use these after I have taught a concept. They are a wonderful tool to use to get immediate feedback from students. I can see immediately who needs one-on-one instruction or just a little more practice with what we are learning. This is a good way to provide a self-paced review (Roblyer/Doering, 2013, p.49). The Promethean Activotes "offer no instructional sequence or tasks but help students complete learning tasks more efficiently" (Roblyer/Doering, 2013, p. 52). The students seem more eager to learn the concept that I will be teaching when they know that we will be using the Promethean Activotes after learning the new concept.  Below is a link that will give you more information on them.

Also, if you happen to have a Promethean Board, www.prometheanplanet.com is a great website that you can find many resources on!

I also posted the same video on my Twitter account. My Twitter name is @Hingram3.
This year, I am incorporating Whole Brain Teaching (power teaching) into my classroom. I've heard of it before, and I've watched a few YouTube videos on it. I was a little scared to try it, but now I can't wait to start it! If you haven't heard of it or seen it, go to YouTube and search for Chris Biffle. He is so great! He is one person that I chose to follow on Twitter. His Twitter name is @ChrisBiffle. You can also learn more about WBT on their website. www.wholebrainteaching.com

I am so new to this!

Hello! My name is Heather Ingram. I am 28 years old, and I am a mother to three beautiful children. Their ages are 9, 6, and 8 months. I am also a third grade teacher at Stemley Road Elementary School in Talladega, Alabama. Teaching is my passion, and I love being able to do it! I am new to blogging, and I am actually really nervous about it. I hope as I play with this a little bit more, that I will become more familiar with it, and it will come a little easier to me.
